Everglades Flats Fishing for Largemouth Bass

Sunday, August 24th, 2008

Today I took out Brian McCully and his girlfriend from Wallingford, Pa. Brian wanted to experience the Everglades flats fishing, so of we went way out in the everglades flats. Brian was mostly interested in try to get top water bites, so I we tied multi able different buzz frogs and some hollow body frogs as well..

Right at the very beginning Brian’s girlfriend had a “big” bass try to grab her buzz frog. This fish kept trying to get her bait all the way back to the boat, when it saw almost at the boat it turned and swam into a clump of weeds. Everyone got to see the fish turn and swim away, I would be guessing that it would have went 8 to 9lbs. The rest of the day was kind of slow but they wound up boating 5 or 6 largemouth bass.

With all of the recent rain the water came way up. I think once things stabilize out there the bite will be red hot in the flats!

South Florida Bass Fishing Report

Austin Pittman with Florida Peacock bass

Today I had out Austin Pittman and friend from the great state of Arkansas. These guys were a bunch of good guys to be with, the kind of guys you look back and can’t figure out how the day went so fast.

Austin was in town working, decided to get out for 6 hours of Peacock bass fishing. When he called, Austin said, “can we catch a peacock bass in 6 hours” and I said, “yes, even two guys from Arkansas can catch these fish with the right guide of coarse.”

Let me tell you these two guys can fish, they caught just over 20 peacock bass today. At the end of the trip Austin said, “I will be back for work next year and you bet I will be calling you to go do this again, I had a blast.”

I look forward to you guys coming back and experiencing all that we offer in South Florida Fishing.

Everglades Fishing Charter

Florida Everglade WildlifeSandra Everglades bass Today I fished with the Wilson family, Sandra and Anthony Sr & Jr.. They decided to experience the Everglades because of the wildlife as well as the fishing, so I had a few spots in mine to do just that. One of my favorites is Holeyland!

Sandra was a great sport and let the boys get started bright and early to ensure the morning bite. A morning bite is exactly what we had, all the while the boys were so pumped up to catch fish Sandra (aka Mom) sat back with a look of confidence like she know something..that the rest of us didn’t.

The first fish of the morning Sandra started with a nice 4lb largemouth, what a great surprise to the boys. But not as muchAnthony Wilson with Florida Everglades bass as the next two she boat, which were both between 4 and 6 lbs. As we moved around they all seem to catch a fish or two, even a couple of bowfin and gar were caught which they seem to enjoy quite a bit.

The day could of ended with and it would of been a success, but leave it Anthony Sr. to leave his mark in the Florida Everglades with trophy largemouth bass just over 7lbs on the scales.

Really enjoyed this family, for there first time bass fishing I thing we can call it a huge success!
