Today was a special day, I had the opportunity to take out Kyle and Tony Patterson from Maryland. They were down on vacation and it was Kyle’s graduation gift from his dad to go Peacock bass fishing. Kyle a great young man and one heck of a fisherman, now a big part of the future safety of our country as he is off to join the Army.
Kyle got off to a slow start with Tony putting the first couple of fish in the boat. The bite was really weird today in the morning, although I think it just took Kyle a little longer to adjust to the style of fishing we have here in South Florida.
After a few moves we came across several spots I would call, “honey holes” where Kyle proceeded to boat at least 10 fish in a row in one location. After a few moves and lure adjustments the pattern for the day became a lot more obvious for all of us.
The next couple of moves really seem to make the difference as we boated 48 peacock bass today in a 6 hour “super half-day“, unbelievable!
I really wanted this to work out for Kyle today, as the fish gods generally do they found away of pulling us on the Peacock bass once again today!

Today I had out Austin Pittman and friend from the great state of Arkansas. These guys were a bunch of good guys to be with, the kind of guys you look back and can’t figure out how the day went so fast.
Austin was in town working, decided to get out for 6 hours of Peacock bass fishing. When he called, Austin said, “can we catch a peacock bass in 6 hours” and I said, “yes, even two guys from Arkansas can catch these fish with the right guide of coarse.”
Let me tell you these two guys can fish, they caught just over 20 peacock bass today. At the end of the trip Austin said, “I will be back for work next year and you bet I will be calling you to go do this again, I had a blast.”
I look forward to you guys coming back and experiencing all that we offer in South Florida Fishing.
I get a big variety of fishermen with different skill levels. Today’s, I had Michael & Donna Walker from Hayes Va. They were fishing on day two, of a three day trip. This couple was sharp with great casting skills and a smooth touch for a sensitive bite. Between the both of them they boated over 60 bass today on super flukes and a JDC bass bone.
One thing for sure South Florida fishing has something for all skill levels and makes for a great learning opportunities that people can take home with them. A lot of the fishing technique we teach can be used all over the country. One thing for sure you will learn how to fight a fish and a lot of fish!
Read the our blog tommorrow to hear how they do Peacock fishing on day three!
Today I had the enjoyment and pleasure of fishing with Anna & Alex from Southern Brazil. Why was this trip was so special, well other then the bass fishing being outstanding. It was there honeymoon and while staying in Ft Lauderdale, they decided to go fishing with us at bassonline.com.
Alex is very good fishermen coming from Brazil, where he said “the bass are so small and hard to catch.” Today, would be a different story as Alex started off by asking for a bait-casting rod & reel, I said, “are you sure”, he replied yes. Once I handed him our GLoomis rods I seen his eyes get big, followed by a smile of excitement. He proceeded to throw topwater lures, after the first couple of cast I realized Alex was going to have a good day. His accuracy was awesome, and precision long cast continued to pay off cast, after cast.
Anna, on the other hand became Alex’s own personal photographer and laid in the sun most of the day. Alex, had a great day in the Everglades, catching around 50 Florida largemouth bass all by himself using a variety of artificial baits on a 6 hour trip. Not only were there large-mouth caught today, but he had the enjoyment of capturing 6 Florida Peacock bass also!
It was a fun filled day on the water with these two, even with a language barrier you knew they were happy by the huge smile on there faces.
Tomorrow the honeymoon couple is off to Orlando, to visit Disney and Universal studio. With Florida bass fishing in there blood now, they are going to take two more days to go bass fishing with Bassonline.com while in the Orlando area. One day on Lake Toho and the other on the Butler Chain of lakes. I know they will have a great time with our guide.
Anna & Alex, enjoy the rest of your trip and have a great time on the remaining days of your honeymoon.
